Sensex tanks 900 points

Benchmark index Sensex tanked around 900 points and was trading at around 78,890 on Friday. Meanwhile, Nifty 50 was trading around 23,900 after falling 1.3%. Almost all the sectoral indices are trading in the red with auto, media, metal, power, oil & gas, realty, psu bank, pharma down 2-3%.

The median pay among top US CEOs rose 7.5% to a record ₹143.35 crore for 2024, a new study found. This comes as big stock grants boosted CEOs' reported earnings. Axon and Union Pacific CEOs were among those getting big pay boosts from stock awards, according to the review of pay of CEOs at S&P 500 companies by ISS-Corporate.

Puneet Singh Jaggi, Gensol Engineering-backed BluSmart's Co-founder, was detained on Thursday amid raids by ED over the fund diversion case, PTI reported citing officials. ED conducted raids at Gensol's premises in Delhi, Gurugram and Ahmedabad under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to reports, Puneet's brother Anmol, who is also BluSmart's Co-founder, is currently in Dubai.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) reported a 17.4% quarter-on-quarter drop in Q4 FY25 net profit to ₹2,464 crore, down from ₹2,982 crore in Q3. On a year-on-year basis, the profit declined 3.7% from ₹2,558 crore. However, total income rose 3.5% year-on-year to ₹15,979 crore in the March quarter, compared to ₹15,441 crore in Q4 FY24.
