VLC media player announced it would soon be able to carry out real-time subtitling and translation on its desktop app. Parent organization VideoLAN shared a video wherein president Jean-Baptiste Kempf showed the new feature, which uses open-source AI models to generate subtitles for videos. The feature supports over 100 languages and can operate entirely on users' devices without cloud services.
