The US administration has not renewed the sanctions waiver on sea-borne Russian oil, a move it earlier said would stabilise supply and prices amid the war in West Asia. Countries, including India, bought millions of barrels of Russian oil during the waiver, which was introduced in mid-March and extended in April. The waiver finally lapsed on May 16.
