Tobacco stocks including ITC and Godfrey Phillips fell on Monday as government readies to introduce Bills in Parliament to levy new cess on tobacco and pan masala. ITC shares fell 0.85% to ₹400.8, while Godfrey Phillips India declined 1.05% to ₹2,842.90 on NSE in early trade. Excise duty of 60%-70% is proposed to be levied on unmanufactured tobacco, tobacco refuse.
