Startup sets out to mine ‘moon fuel’ worth $20 million a kilo

Seattle-based startup Interlune, founded by former Blue Origin executives Rob Meyerson and Gary Lai, is preparing a lunar mission to mine helium-3, a rare isotope known as “moon fuel.” Valued at $20 million per kilogram, helium-3 could revolutionize clean fusion energy. Interlune’s Prospect Moon mission, planned for 2027, will test robotic systems for mining and extraction on the Moon’s surface.
