A startup founder claimed Mumbai Customs took ₹8,000 bribe for a ₹20,000 iPhone 4S he'd purchased from US via eBay in 2012. He initially believed the amount was import duty and was "shooed off" by the Customs officer when he enquired about it. He said he "exchanged valuables on official's desk" as he wanted to take the iPhone on time.
