A Guardian investigation found that OpenAI's Stargate UK project, which intended to build a massive data centre with Nscale and Nvidia, was hypothetical. No OpenAI executive ever met with local authorities to plan the data centre, the construction of which was paused in April. "[The plan] caught [Nscale] completely unaware...It was effectively just a government PR stunt," a source said.
