Japan approves $4 billion for Rapidus to boost semiconductors

Japan's industry ministry on Saturday approved an additional 631.5 billion yen (about $4 billion) for domestic chipmaker Rapidus, taking its total assistance to $14.78 billion. The aid is part of Japan's efforts to boost domestic semiconductor development and strengthen supply chains. The ministry further announced support for semiconductor-design projects by Fujitsu and IBM Japan.
