As of April 15, India's sugar production in the current season reached 2.54 crore tons, with 38 factories still operating, according to ISMA. This year, about 35 lakh tons of sugar is expected to be diverted for ethanol production, up from 21.5 lakh tons last year, ISMA added in its statement issued on Thursday.
