India’s consumption slows as shoppers shift to online research

KPMG's report said India's consumption growth has slowed while competition has intensified across channels. Nikhil Sethi of KPMG said 96% of shoppers research online and 46% check store inventory before purchase. He added consumers now move across multiple platforms, prompting companies to adopt micro-market strategies and data-led targeting to respond to fragmented demand patterns.
