Indian diamond and jewellery exporters are exploring production units in friendly countries to bypass steep US tariffs of 50% imposed on Indian gems from August 27, 2025. Industry experts suggest rerouting via regions like Oman, Europe, and Southeast Asia. With the US accounting for a third of India's diamond exports, Surat polishers face the hardest hit.
