India nears 50% domestic coal use at import-based plants: Report

India has increased the use of domestic coal to nearly 50% at power plants designed to run on imported coal as imports fall, Reuters reported. The country is using domestic coal to operate 5.7 GW of total 18.7 GW capacity at such power plants so far this year. Power plants are reportedly using a mix of imported and domestic coal.
