Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said GST Council is nearing a decision on rationalising and simplifying GST rates. "The process of simplifying GST rates began nearly three years ago...The work is almost complete...The original intent was to have fewer and lower rates, and that remains our focus. I hope GST Council will take a decision soon," she added.
