The Centre has identified critical imports worth $51 billion to swap them with domestic, homegrown products, Reuters reported, citing government sources. India imported $775 billion worth of goods from March 2025 to 2026, out of which imports worth $398 billion can be potentially replaced domestically, an internal government analysis showed. Products range from textile to solar panel industries.
