Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) took suo moto cognisance of a consumer complaint and passed an order to Barbeque Nation Hospitality Limited to not levy service charge at its restaurants. The complaint alleged Barbeque Nation levied service charge in addition to CGST and SGST on a food bill in January 2025. Service charges or tips are voluntary payments, CCPA said.
