Cargo handled at India's major ports surges to 819 million tonnes
India's major ports handled 819.23 million tonnes of cargo in FY 2023-24, up from 581.34 million tonnes in FY 2014-15, marking a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.5%, in line with global standards, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Minister Sonowal noted that in 2023-24, cargo handling comprised 33.8% liquid bulk, 44.04% dry bulk, and 22.16% container cargo.
