Commenting on pressure from the US, Russia has said that "attempts to harm ties with India will fail". Hailing India's rejection of pressure to abandon ties with Russia, the Russia Foreign Ministry said that "relations are steadily and confidentiality advancing". US earlier said that G7 countries should impose tariffs on China and India for Russian oil purchases .
