Airline fined ₹1 lakh for denying boarding to 'single name' flyer

A consumer commission in Chennai has ordered Gulf Air to pay around ₹1.4 lakh in compensation to a passenger. The airline stopped the passenger from boarding a flight at Moscow airport because his passport only had his first name and no surname. The passenger argued that he had earlier flown from India to Moscow on the same passport.
