The All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation expects nearly ₹12,000 crore worth of gold and ₹4,000 crore worth of silver sales on Akshaya Tritiya on Wednesday. "Typically, Akshaya Tritiya sees a surge in purchases, but this year, elevated prices have affected consumer demand," the federation's President Pankaj Arora said. Gold prices crossed ₹1 lakh mark for 10 grams last week.
